IDF marks Diversity Week by harassing Somalians, a community of ethnic Kazakhs and at least three Colombians

Israeli military hopes to show that institutionalised racism goes beyond Palestinians

TEL AVIV: The Israeli Defense Forces last night kicked off their first Diversity Week with a glittering ceremony that saw the public humiliation of a group of Somalians, a community of ethnic Kazakhs and, according to eyewitnesses, “at least three Colombians”.

“It was so wonderful to see all these different nationalities – some of which I didn’t even know lived in the country – demeaned in such a needlessly unpleasant manner,” said Daniella Merkosh, an 18-year-old IDF recruit.

“I’ve just been told that there is a tiny population of Fijians somewhere in Israel,” added Captain Josh Hertz, 25. “This Diversity Week I’m really looking forward to scaring the hell out of them by getting my guys to force them all against the wall at gunpoint.”

The IDF has set itself a target of violently degrading or imprisoning at least 47 different minority groups over the next seven days.

“We feel that the important message of our systematic barbarity has been too focused on the Palestinians,” IDF Chief of General Staff Benny Gantz told reporters. “Diversity Week is all about ensuring our institutionalised racism and wanton abuse of human rights can reach more people.”
